What is Inland Empire Legal Aid (Formally known as Volunteers Lawyers Program)?

Inland Empire Legal Aid (Formally known as Volunteer Lawyers Program) is a legal assistance program of the Spokane County Bar Association. The Inland Empire Legal Aid recruits volunteer attorneys to provide free legal advice in civil matters (non-criminal) to  low-income individuals in Spokane County and four outlying counties, i.e. Pend Oreille, Ferry, Stevens and Lincoln. It is funded primarily by a grant from the Legal Foundation of Washington and contributions from local attorneys and annual fundraisers.

 

MISSION STATEMENT It is the mission of Inland Empire Legal Aid (Formally known as Volunteer Lawyers Program) is to provide select legal services to low-income residents of Spokane County and outlying counties who may otherwise be denied adequate representation or access to the civil justice system, and to encourage local attorneys to fulfill their duty to provide pro bono services.

  1. Inland Empire Legal Aid Board of Directors meets 3d Wednesday e/o/m: It is the mission of Inland Empire Legal Aid (Formally known as Volunteer Lawyers Program) to provide select legal services to low-income residents of Spokane County and outlying counties who may otherwise be denied adequate representation or access to the civil justice system, and to encourage local attorneys to fulfill their duty to provide pro bono services. The Inland Empire Legal Aid Board of Directors is the same as the SCBA Board of Trustees.
  2. Standing Advisory Committee (STAC) meets 2nd Wednesday: Advises IELA.
  3. The WOMEN’S HEARTH (Kathy McFaul): The Women’s Hearth is a safe, welcoming community that promotes growth and well-being in body, mind, and spirit for women of diverse backgrounds. The Hearth fosters nurturing relationships, encourages self-determination, and advocates for change in systems that oppress women.
